Human Epidermal Growth Factor (hEGF) is a protein with profound implications in cell biology and tissue regeneration. Although its origin is human, EGF-related molecules and signaling pathways have also been identified in bovines (cattle), albeit with structural differences.
EGF is a member of the epidermal growth factor family, a group of proteins known for their pivotal roles in regulating cell growth, proliferation, and tissue repair. The principal receptor for EGF is the Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR), which is present on the surface of various cell types.
