    Bovine adenovirus-3 (BAdV-3) is a viral pathogen that primarily affects cattle and is known to cause respiratory disease. It belongs to the Adenoviridae family, which also includes human pathogens like adenovirus and canine pathogens like minute virus of canines (MVC). BAdV-3 is a non-enveloped virus with a capsid consisting of three major components: hexon, penton base, and fiber. The hexon protein accounts for over 90% of the capsid mass, while the penton base and fiber proteins are involved in receptor recognition and viral entry into host cells.

    The genome of BAdV-3 is linear, double-stranded DNA with a size of approximately 34 kilobase pairs. It encodes more than 30 genes and can replicate within a variety of host cells, including bovine epithelia, placenta, and kidney. BAdV-3 has a broad tissue tropism, but it primarily targets the bovine respiratory epithelium.

    The infection with BAdV-3 can cause a range of clinical symptoms, including fever, cough, nasal discharge, and dyspnea. These symptoms can vary from mild to severe and can last for several days up to a few weeks.
