    Target/Biomarker Information

Bovine Apolipoprotein E, often referred to as Bovine ApoE, is a multifaceted protein that takes center stage in the intricate realm of bovine physiology. Synthesized predominantly in the liver of cattle, this glycoprotein exhibits a unique structural characteristic marked by carbohydrates attached to its polypeptide chain. As a distinguished member of the apolipoprotein family, Bovine ApoE orchestrates a complex symphony of lipid metabolism, with a particular emphasis on cholesterol management within the bovine body.

The prominence of Bovine ApoE comes to the forefront in its association with high-density lipoproteins (HDL), widely recognized as "good cholesterol." HDL particles serve as molecular transporters for cholesterol and lipids in the bloodstream, and at the heart of their functionality lies Bovine ApoE. This biomarker serves as an integral component of HDLs, contributing not only to their structural integrity but also to their dynamic role in the reverse cholesterol transport pathway.

The choreography of cholesterol transport begins with Bovine ApoE. It binds to lipids, effectively transforming nascent HDL particles into active carriers of excess cholesterol. These HDLs venture into peripheral tissues, retrieving surplus cholesterol and lipids, subsequently embarking on a journey back to the liver. In the liver, cholesterol undergoes metabolism and eventual excretion, ensuring the maintenance of optimal cholesterol levels within the bovine body.
