Neutrophils, the frontline defenders in the bovine immune system, harbor NGAL within specific granules within these white blood cells. This strategic localization facilitates the rapid deployment of NGAL upon neutrophil activation, ensuring a swift response to cellular stressors and infections.
Furthermore, NGAL is expressed by renal tubular cells, significantly amplifying its significance.
