Canine Neuron-Specific Enolase (NSE), an enzymatic biomarker, is a species-specific variant of the ubiquitous glycolytic enzyme enolase, primarily localized within neuronal and neuroendocrine cells in the canine central and peripheral nervous systems. Enolases are crucial enzymes in the glycolysis pathway, responsible for catalyzing the conversion of 2-phosphoglycerate to phosphoenolpyruvate.
