    Target/Biomarker information

Helicobacter pylori  (H. pylori) is a Gram-negative bacterium that colonizes the human stomach. Approximately half of the human population worldwide is infected with H. pylori. The B subunit of the urease protein (urease B) is the most promising antigen. H. pylori produces a large amount of urease, which is essential for the survival and pathogenesis of the bacterium. Ammonia generated by the hydrolysis of urea neutralizes gastric acidity and forms a neutral microenvironment surrounding the bacterium within the gastric lumenand used as an immunodiagnostic tool
