Target/Biomarker information

Trefoil factor 1 is a small cysteine-rich acidic secreted protein. It is constitutively and strongly expressed in the stomach and it is essential for the normal differentiation of the gastric glands. TFF1 participates in the formation of the mucus layer and in the gastric mucosa protection. TFF1 is also expressed in the inflamed or damaged gastrointestinal tract to repair it. Diseases associated with TFF1 include Bile Reflux and Gastric Ulcer
