    Infectious bronchitis is an acute, highly contagious, viral disease of poultry with worldwide distribution. The most characteristic clinical signs are those derived from the respiratory disease. However, infectious bronchitis can also show renal, enteric and reproductive clinical signs. This disease causes major economic losses not only because of poor performance or decreased egg production and quality, but also because of secondary infections. Infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) is the etiological agent of infectious bronchitis, belongs to Group 3 of the genus Coronavirus. Many serotypes have been described for IBV, probably due to the frequent point mutations that occur in RNA viruses and also to recombination events demonstrated for IBV. Variant D274 was showed to be important IBV type circulating in broiler farms with a significantly higher prevalence than other four genotypes. Continuous monitoring is necessary to reduce economic consequences in layer and broiler farms.
