Target/Biomarker information
Anaplasma platys infects and forms inclusions within platelets and is the cause of canine cyclic thrombocytopenia, or thrombocytotropic anaplasmosis. It does not appear to infect cats. R. sanguineus ticks are believed to transmit A. platys. dogs infected with A. platys are often co-infected with E. canis.
